Across the Caribbean, nurse registration is harmonized at the regional level, but the rules on continuing education and emergency skills are set nation by nation, and for care roles a valid first-aid and CPR certificate is widely expected. Because there is no single regional licensing body, the professional duty to keep skills current and to be able to act in an emergency is applied by each national council. Keeping a recognized, in-date credential is the practical, portable way to evidence that emergency skills meet the standard employers and national councils expect.

The RENR is an entry-to-practice examination, not continuing education, and there is no harmonized region-wide mandatory continuing-education standard; requirements are set by each national council. Whether a CPR/BLS course counts toward continuing education is determined nationally, so no regional figure should be assumed.
